The Australian government has finally started to put international students and workers forward in their priority after a 18 month lockdown. The PMSOL ( The Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List ) has had lots of additions to occupations, which now totals to about 41. This visa is essentially designed to welcome migrants will specific sets of skills which will fulfill the labor needs of a post pandemic Australia.
The government has since been pushing forward the fact that people eligible for this visa will be given extra priority in visa processing and living (with COVID precautions) and with more occupations relating to IT fields and engineering fields being added, this visa has started to garner much more attention. Some new occupations added for this visa include:
- General Accountant
- Taxation Accountant
- Civil Engineer
- Structural Engineer
- Transport Engineer
- Electrical Engineer
- Mechanical Engineer
- Multimedia Specialist
- Analyst Programmer
- Developer Programmer
- Software Engineer
- Software and Applications Programmers

More IT related jobs and engineer jobs being needed for the labor needs for Australia hints for international workers related in these fields to look at the country as an excellent opportunity. According to a spokesperson, with just 7,000 domestic IT degree graduates in Australia, the addition of the ICT occupations will be essential to meet Australia’s ICT needs.
The lockdown is slowly seeing an end, with proper measures and vaccine rollouts being done everywhere. This means that international travel will slowly start booming again, resuming studies and work in Australia too.
